Meet Our Class!
Meet Lael
I was born and raised in Coeur d'Alene, ID where I grew up playing frisbee until you absolutely couldn't see it anymore in the dark, pretended to be a mermaid in the lake, picked pounds of apples from our trees, and cross-country skied across the field behind our home. After graduating, I attended University of Idaho and received my Bachelor's Degree in Education. I taught for five years in Post Falls, Idaho, spending four years in third grade and one year in fourth. Each year, as I learned more from my students about what they needed, I became more passionate about student centered learning that was focused on inquiry, investigation, and student's self-discovery. To pursue a style of teaching that aligned with my own philosophy, I decided to return to school to pursue a Masters Degree in Montessori Education, and completed my training this past year. I can't wait to begin this journey with all of you!
Some things I wholeheartedly believe in:
1. Passions are what drive us, no matter how small or strange they may seem to others. Find what YOU are passionate about and dive head first into it! You are never know where it might lead.
2. A well-written book is a powerful thing. Never underestimate the power a story has on its ability to shape our ideas, feelings, and our outlook on life. (Check out some books we will be reading this year on the Reading page!)
3. It is a wonderful feeling to find people who understand YOU, value YOU, support YOU, and inspire YOU - these are "your people". Always be on the lookout for them, give them a chance, and then make the effort to keep them close.
